About Sheffield Film & Acting School
Creating a passion for the arts
Sheffield Film & Acting School is a unique interactive filmmaking school for young people ages 8-18 years to nurture and develop the next generation of talent. Founded by award winning actress, writer and director Sally Cancello, the school was created as a way to combine her professional film and acting skills with her passion for teaching creative arts to young people. The school works alongside professional actors, screenwriters, cinematographers and filmmakers to deliver inspiring, hands-on workshops for a range of ages and abilities.

Meet our Artistic Directors
Sally Cancello
Sally is an award-winning writer, actor, director and producer. She studied acting and theatre directing in London, and has continued to work successfully in theatre, TV and film. She won the 2014 Funny Women’s Comedy Shorts Award, filmed a teaser with Warner Bros in 2015, and is currently in pre-production with other film projects.

Sally teaches acting, writing, directing and film production, and also leads on our business workshops.
Sivamathy Selvakumaran
Mathy is a writer, director and creative producer. She has trained on the Regional Theatres Young Director Scheme with Eclipse Theatre Company, and was longlisted for the Bumble Female Film Force competition in 2018. She has also worked in film production, festival management, and marketing & communications.

Mathy teaches writing, directing and film production, and also leads on our schools workshops.
